The Challenge

Capel St Mary Parish Council required a new logo that felt modern while still honouring the village’s heritage. They were keen to retain a circular form and wanted the design to reference key landmarks from the physical village sign — including St Mary’s Church, the windmill after which Windmill Hill is named, and a horse, reflecting the origins of the name “Capel.”

The Solution

A circular logo was developed, drawing on imagery from the village’s historic sign. At its centre sits St Mary’s Church, one of Capel St Mary’s most recognisable landmarks, framed by rolling hills with the historic mill on one side and a horse on the other. This composition reflects the village’s close ties to its surrounding landscape and its proximity to a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty — a connection to nature that provides a strong foundation for the visual identity as a whole.
